Lighting Upgrade for Lake Pend Oreille School District

Panhandle Electric was proud to partner with the Lake Pend Oreille School District on a public works project to upgrade lighting at their transportation hub in Ponderay. Our team installed a new energy-efficient lighting system for the bus parking lot, improving visibility, safety, and long-term performance.

Along with trenching and new LED pole lighting, we added dedicated circuits for bus block heaters to ensure reliable cold-weather starts—an essential feature for North Idaho’s winter months. The work was completed over the summer break, allowing the entire upgrade to be done with zero disruption to school operations.

Thanks to Avista utility rebates, we also helped the district reduce the total cost of the project—proving that public works upgrades can be both impactful and cost-effective.
